Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration funded program provides tuition-free .NET training for Internationally-Trained IT Professionals

Monday, May 16, 2011

The 24-week .NET Solutions Bridging Program for Internationally Trained IT Professionals is offered in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration and JVS. This tuition-free program is designed to provide participants with the advanced concepts, skills and knowledge required to work as .NET Developers. This fulltime daytime program will run 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, starting October, 2011.

It is designed for graduates of Computer Science or Information Technology university degree programs who wish to update their skills and knowledge in order to work in Canada as software developers. Graduates of this program will get an in-depth knowledge of application development using Microsoft .NET 3.5 and Database administration, implementation and maintenance using SQL Server 2008. They will be able to develop and deploy the GUI applications to meet the organization needs using Windows Forms as well as Windows Presentation Foundation. Graduates will gain skills to develop and deploy database driven online catalogues, secure front end presentation and web services using ASP.NET as well as Windows Communication Foundation. They will also have the skills required to write Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and/or Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD).

In addition, throughout the program emphasis will be placed on increasing participants’ written and oral English fluency as well as increasing their understanding of what is required to be successful in the Canadian Workplace. As part of this program, students will be offered the opportunity to work with Mentors. Assistance will also be provided to help graduates find fulltime employment at the end of the program.

Graduates of this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning.

Note: Participants in this program are not eligible for OSAP or the Canada Student Loans Program for Part-time Studies.
