Canada

fireworks in shape of heart with canada flag colours

Since I came to this country, I have had the opportunity to celebrate Canada Day in different ways. I remember my first Canada Day in 2014. I went to a festival in a beautiful, big park in Richmond Hill with my Colombian friends. We were listening to music and enjoying many fun activities for kids and adults too. Some activities were rock climbing, jumping, fair games, and the traditional barbecue of hot dogs, hamburgers and chips. After eating lunch, we ate ice cream. The following year, I celebrated Canada Day in Newmarket with the same group of Colombian friends. We were at the park from 6:30 pm until 11:00 pm. We listened to a philharmonic concert where they played the national anthem of Canada. There were a lot of families waiting for the night to come to see the fireworks. That was beautiful. Another of the traditions to celebrate Canada day is to go camping! So, this Canada Day weekend we went to Earl Rowe Provincial Park, north of Newmarket. There was a beach, and a pool to swim in. We could fish, go canoeing, walking and riding a bike. These are safe, but fun activities. Earl Rowe Provincial Park is a quiet place with beautiful tall trees that I have never seen before. The thing that I liked the most in this experience was sitting around the fire with the family, talking to them and toasting marshmallows in the fire. This is a perfect place to take a break and relax!
