In my home country, Pakistan, I used to have a regular routine.  I would wake up early in the morning, about 4:00 am in summer and 6:00 am in winter.  After finishing our morning prayers, my wife and I would go for a morning walk together.  We lived in Lahore, “The City of Gardens.”  While we had lots of gardens in Lahore to choose from, we usually went frequently to a central garden called Jillani Park.  It is quite a big space to walk around in.  It has a jogging track, the biggest track in our city, which stretches about 3 miles.  My wife and I really enjoyed our brisk walks and used to have competitions to see who could be the first person to finish walking quickly around the track but I’m not going to tell you who won. I’ll give you a chance to guess!

Morning walks are a great experience.  I would like to suggest morning walks to all of you.  They are good for your health and you can also appreciate nature to its fullest.  I have no words to express that feeling you get when you see the sun rising.

In Lahore, we normally walked for 45 minutes and then went to the gym.  The gym has two sections, a section for men and a section for women.  My wife went to the women’s section of the gym and I went to the men’s section.  We usually spent about 30 minutes at the gym.  Then, we went home and started our regular day like everyone else; we took showers, had breakfast and then headed to work.

In Canada, I miss my morning walks a lot.  In summer, I can still go for morning walks but, in winter, it’s too hard because it’s too cold.  That’s when I miss my morning walks the most.
