My name is Saraswati and I came to Canada in 2011 from Nepal with my family. I came to Canada with a hope for a better life. That time my daughter was just 14 months old.

When I came to Canada I did not have any relatives and close family members. At the beginning I struggled with the language and trying to understand Canadian culture, officials, health and transportation system as well as financial problems. At the first year winter, my body could not adopt to the cold environment, but later on it slowly adjusted. Despite all the hardships, I enjoyed Canada’s beautiful places like CN Tower, Niagara Falls, Toronto Islands, Lake Ontario and the first snowfall.

Now my life is little hard. I have two kids: one is 9 and another 3 years old. I am enjoying them and taking care of them. That’s why I could not continue my career. Now I am working at The Salvation Army as a part-time Store Associate. During my stay at home I want to learn the English language. So I joined the Home Study program.

While continuing my work, I will improve English in the Home Study program. Then I am planning to join accounting course in a college. I will take care of my family with full love.

I enjoy cooking, swimming, talking, watching movies and shopping.

A PERSON WHO INSPIRES ME

The greatest poet of Nepal, L. P. Devkota once wrote:

"A person is great by his/her heart not by caste."
