Celebration

In our country Iran, we don’t celebrate Christmas. The closest celebration to December 25 is Yalda Night, on December 28. We celebrate the longest night of the year then. The idea behind this celebration is to be happy with the family in the longest night. All relatives go to the oldest family member’s home, for example a grandfather. If he passed away, we would go to the oldest uncle’s home or somebody else’s. We don’t have a big meal for the celebration. Usually, we just arrange fruit plates and drink tea. The most important thing is not to be alone and be together and happy in the longest night.
