Girl Learning To Play Saxophone In High School Orchestra

There is a tradition of volunteering in Canada because unpaid help is needed in almost every area. There are three ways that you can help: the School Advisory Council, Home and School Association, or go into the classroom to help. Parents can be elected to the Council for short terms and usually meet every month to discuss issues and make decisions. Most schools in Ontario have a Home and School Association or a Parent-Teacher Association. If you like to be “hands on” and help out with school activities, this one is for you. The group plans lots of activities such as fun fairs, fundraisers, and community festivals. One thing to know is that different school boards have different policies about who is allowed into the schools. Some have applications to fill out, some have training sessions, and some school boards ask for a Police Records Check to be sure that people coming into the schools to work with children are safe. When your children see you helping, they will see education is important to you.
