Settlement

Welcome to Canada sign

In 2014, my husband decided to settle in Canada. That was a hard for to me because I needed to leave my family, my house, my friends and everything I was used to. Also, I was so nervous, horrified actually, but a little bit excited for my life in this new country. There were thousands of questions in my mind about people, schools, markets, houses, weather, and food.

Our travel to Canada took around 15 hours by plane, so my family and I were very tired and exhausted by the time we arrived. The entry procedures in the airport took around 3 hours. Then we took a taxi to our hotel, and we were looking at everything with interest. Oh my God-there was snow everywhere and it was the first time we had ever seen it. We felt so happy and excited to play with it.

The thing that we had a problem the most with was looking for a house. The owners of the houses were afraid of newcomers and most of the houses were too expensive. We also hoped to find a house in a perfect spot. Finally, we found a nice house in a welcoming neighbourhood. The best thing was the school being near the house.

Now we are almost 3 years here in Canada. My family and I are so happy in this beautiful country. We are enjoying everything together and we feel like this is home now.
