Settlement

My name is Izdehar. I am from Syria. My hometown is Daraa.  Syria has a lot of history; in fact, it is a cradle of many civilizations. Numerous civilizations have thrived in Syria. I used to live in Daraa until the war started. When the war began, I had to go to the Jordan with my family as a refugee. We lived in Jordan for three years and then we got a big opportunity to immigrate to Canada. We felt so lucky and quickly accepted this offer to start a new life and have a better future for our kids.

In the beginning, we faced many difficulties here mainly due to differences in language and culture. Then, I started going to a language school to gain knowledge and improve my English so I could feel comfortable communicating with Canadian people. I must say that we found a lot of support from our Canadian friends that helped us in settling here. We are so thankful to the Canadian government and Canadian people who gave us a great opportunity to start a new life here. Thank you Canada!
