Young girl use phone on the bed

Getting a cellphone for kids is a very important matter. In my opinion, kids under 15 years don't need a cellphone. There are many reasons behind that which prevents parents from giving kids a cellphone at an early age. The two most important reasons are not only their lack of the awareness of the negative impacts of the cellphone, but also, the bad effect on their health that may be caused at early ages.

Kids at early ages usually don't know what is wrong and what is right. They make decisions without knowing the disadvantages of them. While using the cellphone, they may communicate with bad people on social media, people who lure children into drugs, bad organizations or sexual encounters. Many children who have been cyberbullied may only admit their experience much later in life when the mental damage has already been done. Social media may also induce depression and anxiety when the kids are not given the online attention that they expect.

Kids like to play video games. Hence, using a cellphone may make them addicted to the games on the device. This will isolate the kids from their parents, classmates and friends. No sports and movement, lack of socialization, and getting addicted lowers their concentration for their studies. Also, mobile phones primarily function on electromagnetic waves, and the brain has its own electric impulses and communication is carried out in the neural network. In children, the waves from the phone can easily penetrate right into the interior parts of the brain, as they do not have a strong shield.

In conclusion, everything has its advantages and disadvantages as it’s changeable from each person’s perspective. As mentioned earlier, studies have shown that cellphones may harm kid’s brains - mentally as well as socially. Therefore, the disadvantages win over the advantages and I believe that kids should not use cellphones at their early ages.
