Canada

autumn forest behind lake

In the maple leaf’s kingdom called Canada, autumn is a beautiful and romantic season. One of the main features of autumn is the shedding of leaves from maple trees. Now is the best season to go hiking and enjoy yourself on trails, in forests and parks, getting you away from TVs, computers and phones.

Last weekend, our family set out to hike in Milliken District Park, a half hour north of Toronto, for our day trip. There were three of us including my 5-year-old son. This park is in north east Scarborough in an area originally called Milliken’s Corners.

At the park, there is a small lake, and it has crystal clear water. Some maple trees are around the lake and the trees are reflected in the water. It seems like a colorful oil painting picture. We watched trumpeter swans and waterfowls enjoying a swim in the pond. Children enjoyed tossing some pieces of bread to feed them. We strolled the boardwalk. We also saw there were some people having a picnic under the golden coloured maple trees in the grassland.

However, the most beautiful autumn scenery that we saw was when we took a hike on the trails. At the entrance of the trail, in front of us were all yellow, golden, red and some green colors, just like we were brought into a fairy tale world. We were so excited to go onto the trail. Under our feet were a lot of maple leaves that paved the whole path. We also saw some very cute squirrels around the trail. They jumped on the tree and ran past us. My son ran and said, “Mummy look at the maple leaves falling on the ground. It was just like they could dance! “I felt so good when my son was so happy and relaxed in nature. I told myself I should bring him out every weekend.

During our hiking, we took some videos and pictures for marking this autumn. We will come here again next autumn, and you?
