Winter 2015

Seasonal

Maple taffy leaf or boiled tree sweet boiled sap syrup on snow

I came to Canada in April 2012. Many people say Canada is cold. I just smiled because I came from northeast China. There was snow and cold in winter. When I came to Canada, I was speechless because the sky was still floating in May snowflakes. China's May is already early summer.

One morning in December of the same year, when I opened the curtains, the snow fluttered and the car was covered in snow, completely unable to see the original appearance.

When I opened the door, the snow had been so high. No pedestrians were on the road, only the snow-covered car and a few snow-sweepers.

I was shocked by the immediate scene, and I have never seen such big snow. Then I was very excited, I intended to jump into the snow, the snow came to my waist. I guessed there was 1 meter.

I woke up my roommate and shoveled the snow together in front of the door. We played and built a snowman while we shoveled snow. Our faces were red, the weather was cold, but we enjoyed it. Half an hour later, we had cleaned the front of the snow together.

There are many activities in winter, such as maple hut, ice skating, skiing, and ice fishing.

I like to go to get the maple syrup. Pour the hot syrup on the snow and roll it up with a small stick, so that maple syrup is ready. During the winter, everyone is very happy eating maple syrup and skating. They don’t think it is getting cold.

I think ice fishing is the most interesting thing. Everyone sits in a warm cabin, waiting for the fish to bite. I remember the first time I fished. I drove two hours to a city near Montreal. It was minus 30 degrees and it was a good place for ice fishing. I caught more than 200 fish in one night. We brought the pots and condiments to grill the fish in tin foil. The people in the nearby cabin smelled the fragrance and all came over to eat the fish.

In fact, my favorite is to go to the hot springs, the Blue Mountain Hot Springs almost every year. In the cold winter, the body is warm and the hair freezes, it feels very interesting. Drink a cup of Canadian traditional Tim Hortons hot chocolate, and you will find that life is so beautiful. This is my first winter in Canada, different from China, but I like it here.
