map of nepal.

My name is Tara. I was born in Nepal. I studied high school in my hometown school. During my university studies, I started a part-time job as a social worker. After I graduated, I started full time work. I moved to the capital city to study my Master’s Degree. I then got married. After I finished my degree I gave birth to my daughter. My child was 3 years old when I came to Canada. I started to work as a laundry worker. After 2 years I gave birth to my son and I stopped working. Now my son is 1 year old. Now I am taking care of both children.

Canada is a beautiful country. It is a safe country. Canada’s government is very good. All cities are neat and clean. Canadian people are helpful and friendly. I like this country. When I first came here I was very surprised by the wide roads because Nepal’s roads are very narrow. The weather was also very different for me. I had never seen snow before and it was so cold. I am used to the winters now.

Building a career is starting from zero when you come. We know it will take a long time to have work that is satisfying like it was back home. Like many others we came for our children’s future. Canada will give them much opportunity to grow and prosper.

We have made many new friends here. We now have friends from Nepal but also from the Caribbean, the Philippines, Somalia and Iran. This is the remarkable thing about Canada. Everyone from many places comes together to share common goals and to live a happy life.
