Travel (Outside of Canada)

Airplane in hand with national flag on background - Colombia

It's unbelievable to see how time flies just in front of us. What is sadder is that it flies faster when we are having a great time.

One week ago, we came back from Colombia where we had the chance to spend more than 25 days. For some people those are many days, but when it comes to spending time with your family, I think it is never going to be enough.

I'm going to start from the day that we flew to Colombia. It was chaos. Why? Because we had asked my brother-in-law to take us to the airport and he was late so we were late getting to the airport. That day the airport was busy and besides we were traveling with our two kids, which makes it even more difficult. The check-in line was very long and my husband was exhausted pushing the bags around.

When we finally checked our bags in, and while we were on our way to the gate for our flight, we heard, "It's the last call for the passengers to Bogota". We were running because we were so far and my husband almost fainted because he was carrying many things between the bags and our daughter, Mariana's car seat with her in it. But thank God we made it.

Our girls didn't have any problem in the airplane; most of the time they were sleeping. When we got to Bogota, all stress went away because we were so happy to be home. We were picking up the baggage and it turned out that one of them was missing. But to be honest, I didn't care. The important thing was that we were already hugging our families again.

Christmas in Colombia is very different than here in Canada, just for the fact that most of our family is there so you can feel the Christmas spirit with all the surroundings, all the decorations around, the music and the food. We had the opportunity to share with many members of our family and friends and what is most important, we got to celebrate Mariana's baptism and Gabriela's second birthday. We also went to different places like churches, water parks, amusement parks and natural pools. We really had an amazing time. I wish I could have stayed longer.

One of the things that I enjoyed the most, besides being surrounded by my family, was the food. I was eating all the time, literally. My husband was telling me repeatedly, "Andrea we need to be on a diet". I kept telling him, "I'm sorry, I'm breastfeeding. I need to be well fed". He just laughed at me.

I'm just grateful as always to God for letting me share those priceless moments with all my family. I hope I can go back soon to my beautiful Colombia.
