Travel (Outside of Canada)

Michael, his wife and daughter taking a selfie over Niagara Falls

Last summer my family and I planned a road trip from Rosetown, Saskatchewan to Toronto. We decided to drive through USA, so we would also be able to visit our relatives in Iowa as well as see other places in USA.

Our first stop was in Minneapolis where we had a chance to go around the city and visit the largest mall in the USA; Mall of America. My daughter was mesmerized. She played all day at the mall and she met Nickelodeon characters.

The next day, we drove to Iowa. We stayed at our relative’s place for a couple of days. Our daughter loved their house. She watched movies in their mini cinema and played billiard. We had a great time there and we promised to visit them again on our way back.

On our travel to Toronto, we passed through Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and then back to Canada, but now in Ontario side. Finally, we reached our destination Toronto. We stayed in Mississauga where our friends live. They showed us the city and we visited some beautiful touristic spots in Toronto. We were amazed when we saw some of the most wonderful attractions of this metropolitan city such as the big mansion known as Casa Loma, the Royal Ontario Museum where we discovered lots of interesting facts, the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada where we felt like we were actually under the sea, and of course the most famous tourist spot in Toronto - the CN Tower. An open view elevator took us to the top floor in just a minute. The tower is 1,150ft high. At the top of the tower there is a 360o deck. From there, we saw the beauty of the city and the jaw dropping view of Lake Ontario.

Our trip didn’t end there; we went to Niagara where we saw the breathtaking view of Niagara Falls. We were so amazed that we did not miss the opportunity to experience the Hornblower Niagara Cruise. We were able to get a closer view, felt the power and embraced the mist of the water flowing freely. We experienced the night life in Niagara and stayed in a hotel there too.

On our way back we decided to make Lake Erie loop instead, so we drove through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, have a quick visit in Cleveland, Indiana, Illinois and back to Iowa. We stayed in our relative’s house for a few days and met there their other friends too.

We had one more week of vacation, so together with our relatives, we decided to visit Chicago. This city had numerous family themed attractions to choose from, so anyone would enjoy such as Field Museum of Natural History, Millennium Park and another skyscraper; The Willis Tower which was known before as Sears Tower.

It was the most tiring but also the most memorable and wonderful vacation our family has ever had so far. It gave us tons of memories and family adventures that I won’t trade for anything else. And if you ask me if I’ll do it again, just tell when to leave and I’ll get our car and suitcases ready.
