I was born in a small valley of southern China in 1978. Before I moved to the Dominican Republic, my world was very small and limited. After I got married, my husband and I started a small Chinese restaurant in the Dominican Republic. This place had beautiful weather but there was no stability in the country. There was high rate of crime here and which is why we decided to move from here after the birth of our son. This was a really tough decision for us. Moving to Canada was a big decision because we didn't know how to speak English and we would have to start all over again. After we moved here, we eventually opened up a restaurant here as well. Slowly and gradually, we got used to everything. People were kind and helpful. Everything was different here but better.

Now, we have been living here for five years and we are happy and satisfied. We are not scared for our lives and feel safe and secure here. Everything is good. My son likes the school here and he is happy because he has a new sister now. We are all happy because Canada has given us a good and peaceful life. And that makes us realize everyday that moving here was the best decision we ever made in our life!
