Flag of El Salvador

I was born in El Salvador, one of the smallest countries in Central America, in the capital, San Salvador. My mother was a single mother. She was a nurse and my father a doctor, but I never had a relationship with him. God gave me the opportunity to have my Mom and twin sister Marcela. I studied law in university, and I loved it, but practicing law became unsafe for me in my country.

I met my spouse, also a lawyer, in church 12 years ago, and when I graduated from law we got married and have had four happy years together.  Last year we realized I was pregnant with our beautiful baby, Alisson. She promises to have a better future here in Canada and above all be safe, have a better education, and learn English and Spanish.

As lawyers, my spouse and I hope one day to practice our profession or something like that here in Canada. We know that Canada is a country of opportunities, so I hope to soon have a job. I want to  have fluency in English, so I can start to have experience in Canada and to help my mother who is ill with cancer.  We know it is not impossible, but maybe it will take time and be hard work.  English is my priority right now.

Canada is a great nation. Always there is someone willing to help you. Above all, the kind group of volunteer teachers in Lindsay, Ont. have given me one of the best experiences I've had in Canada. Thanks to them the little English that I now have is practical. I am very grateful to this country and happier now with Alisson. She will grow here and I am sure that we will learn all about this great nation together.
