I started my career as a private investigator 8 years ago. At that time James and I were dating and he was the one who introduced me to such an interesting area.  James with more than 20 years of experience was working for a very well-known investigation agency as a supervisor of the Special Investigation Unit conducting interviews and I started as his assistant. It was very interesting to learn how he formulated the questions to use in the interviews and interrogations. The interview process was recorded with a video camera, and when we reviewed it he was explaining to me the meaning of the body language signs that the interviewee had shown. Right after he prepared a report with the conclusions of the investigation.

I was fascinated by such an interesting job. When I was younger and watched American movies or TV shows related to investigations, I never thought that I was going to have that type of experience. And here I am now holding my Ontario private investigation licence and developing a career in this field. It was not as easy and fast as it appeared.

After a couple of years assisting James I went back to Mexico to help my mom to take care of my brother,  because he got very sick and spent a lot of time in the hospital. James went to Mexico too for 6 months to help me, and when we were there we were considering to stay and start an investigation business there, due to the health problems that my brother and soon after my mom had.

In the end, we decided to come back to Canada and apply for my permanent residence. I started the process to get my private investigator licence, and the first step was to take a 50-hour online course and pass the tests. After the final test I got a number to apply for the Provincial Licence, which required me to write a very long and complex test.  It was a huge challenge but I completed it and passed it.

Since then I’ve assisted my husband James in different areas of investigation, and I keep improving my skills as a private investigator. This year James and I started our own Private Investigation Agency and we are very happy working together as a team.
