I would like to say “Welcome Canada to all the newcomers”. To get an opportunity it is very important to interact with others as well as newsletters. I am all ears to listen and to advise an easy way to getting jobs in Canada. Concurrently I will also share some of my experience as a newcomer and give some valuable information regarding how to prepare a resume, face an interview and some important information regarding how to apply for the jobs.

Let’s get the ball rolling; when I first started my journey as a newcomer in Canada I just brought my old resume and was not getting any response from the company. This incident really disheartened for me and I thought like I am qualified, having good communication skill and possess handy experience in my field than still why I didn’t receive the call from the company and I thought it just wasn’t for me. Then one day I was passing from the newcomer center. I just visited that place and asked for the services they are providing to the newcomers. They informed me about their different settlement services like English classes, resume preparation, job seminar etc. I had registered my name and learned how to prepare covering letter and resume for the company with number of seasons and had a discussion with them.

My next step was to search a job is to prepare a reference for me in Canada to acknowledge my skills. For that I needed to make a group. I took the advantage of newcomer center where you get an opportunity to meet with the representative of the company and do co-ops with them to generate my reference. My initiative really helped me to make a bigger group and friend in my profession. In Canada companies are giving more preference to your soft skills which they are should be in you. Soft skills like active team player, hardworking, initiator, active listener etc. I had also prepared my visiting card  where in front side I wrote my name ,cell number, email ID, LinkedIn ID and address and in back of the card I wrote my soft skills . Many times it happens that managers or human resources department don’t have time to see your full resume at that point of time but brief summary of you soft skill and professional skill can click for you.

In my opinion, there are lots of certification courses in Canada and many times person with Canadian certification can get a good job then the master degree holder newcomer. So, I would like to advise all the newcomers try to grab those certification in your profession to strengthen your profile. I also suggest you one more way if you don’t find a good prospectus in your job then there is always an option for second career option. Canadian government is giving a loan to the newcomers up to $28,000 for the study. Which you need to pay after the 3 months of after finishing your study and lower interest rate. It is also a good option for the newcomer to educate yourself and create more scope for your employment.

You should also use the job search site like Indeed, Workopolis, Job banks and LinkedIn profile. Do regular search on these sites and make your profile active. I hope all this information which I shared with you can help you in your beginning of new life in a new country, Wish you best of luck good wishes for you new journey.
