English

English is one of the most common languages in the world. It is used in more than 51 countries. According to the rating Ukraine (my homeland) is among the countries with a medium level of proficiency in English. Students start learning English from first grade in specialized schools. If you want to learn faster and improve your language skills you have to hire a tutor and take private classes. In most cases progress depends on students who naturally grasp English and others who struggle greatly.

One of the best ways to learn English is to travel abroad. For instance, studying English in Canada is a big commitment and requires a lot of work but it can be a completely life changing experience. When you learn English in Canada, you are surrounded by it all the time and you are using your vocabulary everywhere. It is very important to speak up all the time and not to be afraid of making mistakes because we learn from mistakes. I love learning English in Canada because even if you can’t express your thoughts correctly or sometimes it is hard to find a proper word, no one will laugh at you.  Many newcomers come here and they all start from scratch.

I found it very essential to attend ESL classes. This can be a very quick way to learn English. You can interact with your classmates and teachers in a real environment.

Also, I can talk highly about LINC Home Study. I started taking this program in fall 2016. It is very useful and helpful and I would especially recommend it for those who are working or taking care of their children and have no time to attend school. This program gave me an opportunity to improve my reading, writing and communication skills. Currently I am in Level 7 and I would definitely continue taking this program upon successful completion of the highest level.
