After arriving in Canada, I decided to improve my English because Arabic is my native language, and my second language is French. I only had two English courses in my country.
At first I did not work, so I started attending an in-class course, and then I ended up taking an online course. Since I tried these two different kinds of learning, I can say that each one of them has its good and bad aspects.
The advantage about learning online is I can learn at my convenience while I am at home. Firstly there is no break in summer, which means I can achieve progress continuously. Also I can learn fast, as I can go as fast as I can and it even allows me to finish faster than others.
The disadvantage about online learning are: Missing communication with people and losing the possibility to new friends from different cultural backgrounds in class. Also there is a lack of communicating face-to-face with teachers.
Of course, disadvantages of the online courses may be considered as good things for the in-class courses, as I feel I can improve my listening skills and speaking skills on the phone when I have to work on my own.
I have got so many benefits from my first online course that I would like to take another course to upgrade my English skills. I think it is a very good way to learn, so I will surely advise my friends and family members to take online courses.
