Library

shelf full of books

The library system in China and in Canada are similar. It's easy to access the public libraries. After ID registration, residents can freely use the unified loan and return system. All public libraries in a city are linked. Residents can also have free access to the libraries' remote digital resources.

Libraries have diverse programs and events for the public. Some examples include: a reading club, a meet and greet with writers and a conference on the use of resources.

Libraries are still a valuable resource even though we have a lot of information available on the Internet. First, the Internet cannot replace books. In the libraries, we have all kinds of books and can choose the books we would like to read. Books give us more systematic knowledge and information. We can get more profound and deep thoughts instead of the fragmented information on the Internet. Second, we should be vigilant that there is some false information online and harmful or inappropriate sites. Third, libraries offer good programs for all ages. For example, children can access a reading club and they have fun with reading. Teenagers could get help from librarians on research projects for school. In short, the libraries are still valuable because they have a wealth of resources and programs to keep the passion of reading and learning alive.
