Basbousa is a very popular traditional Middle Eastern cake.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of corn oil
  • 1 cup of desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup of semolina
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

Instructions:

First, mix 2 eggs, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of corn oil, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Second, in a deep pan, put 1 cup of semolina and 1 cup of desiccated coconut.

Third, add 1 cup of yogurt, 2 teaspoons of baking powder and mix.

Then, put the liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and mix them well.

And then, put the mixture in Pyrex, put some nuts if you like, and put in the oven that is preheated to 350F degrees.

After about 20 minutes you will get a brown color on the cake. 

Finally, add hot syrup and ENJOY it!
