Woman taking off yellow high heels shoes.

I want to share with you what I learned from a short presentation I saw. It was a short but excellent story about a model who dared to tell the world how her life has been as a model. Her name is Cameron Russell and she has been a model for 10 years.
She made the point that we live in a sexist society and we can also say that it is a somewhat racist society.

She came dressed in high heels and a dress tight to her body, but she felt uncomfortable and changed clothes and shoes in front of everyone.

She said that the images of her in pictures are powerful but are also superficial. She talked about the fact that in 2007, of the 677 models that were hired, only 27 or less than 4%, were non- white. This is so sad that even in 21st century, we are still racist and it is even worse to show everywhere to our teenagers the prototype of very thin women and that is why today we have a high percentage of girls who are not happy with their bodies and others who are suffering with anorexia.

We have to educate our children with good valves and teach them to love and accept themselves as they are, but the most important things is that they are self- confident people who see their worth in more than their looks. We must start raising girls who have confidence in their abilities and character and are not so concerned with what other people think about their looks. In this way, all people in society will benefit.
