Jay Fai is a 70 year old street food vendor in Bangkok, Thailand. She spends her days working in her street restaurant with her 2 woks.

The last thing she would expect is that one day she would be awarded Michelin star for recognition of her culinary skills. The matter of fact is, that she did not even know what Michelin star is!

Michelin guide is the most famous travel guide in the world. It covers all different parts of the world and Michelin organization decided to create such a guide for Thailand. Michelin investigators spent months secretly visiting various places in Thailand. One of the places they visited was Jay Fai’s restaurant and they loved her food.

It should be noted that Michelin star is the most desired culinary award in the whole world. Many famous chefs spend years chasing this award and they never receive it. Jay Fai did not even know what it was and she won it.

After her family explained to her what Michelin star award represents, she was grateful to receive it.

Jay Fai is the very example of the artist enjoying what she does with little regard to fame and fortune. She spent years perfecting her craft and in the end she received the well-deserved recognition. In keeping with her modest nature, she did not renovate her restaurant, opened several new locations or retired to enjoy her recognition. She went right back to her restaurant to work as nothing happened.
