Here is some vocabulary from this edition. Do you know what the words mean?

arduous
involving a lot of strength and effort

barefoot
without shoes on your feet

categorical
without exceptions or conditions; absolute; unqualified and unconditional

colony
a country or area that is under the political control of a more powerful country, usually one that is far away

contour
to make or form the outline of something

crucial
something that is extremely important, because everything else depends on it

discard
to get rid of something

disparity
a difference between two or more things, especially an unfair one

dress code
a set of rules specifying the garb or type of clothing to be worn by a group or by people under specific circumstances

dump
a place where unwanted waste is taken and left

ewe
a female sheep

garter
a band of elastic traditionally worn around your leg to keep a sock or stocking up

groom
a man at the time he gets married, or just after he is married

hacker
someone who secretly uses or changes the information in other people's computer systems

hydroelectric
using water power to produce electricity

hypnotic
making you feel tired or unable to pay attention to anything else, especially because of a regularly repeated sound or movement

indigo
a dark purple-blue colour

mammal
a type of animal that drinks milk from its mother's body when it is young. Humans, dogs, and whales are mammals.

migratory
involved in or relating to migration

myriad
very many

panoramic
an unobstructed and wide view of an extensive area in all directions

pasture
land or a field that is covered with grass and is used for cattle, sheep etc to feed on

reap
to get something, especially something good, as a result of what you have done

reminisce
to talk or think about pleasant events in your past

scads
large numbers or quantities of something

shiny
bright or glossy in appearance

vast
extremely large

versatile
having many different uses/skills

workaholic
someone who chooses to work a lot, so that they do not have time to do anything else

zip-line
a cable mechanism used for transportation across a river, gorge, etc
