A hobby is something people do in their free time. People have many different hobbies. Some like sports, some like music, and others enjoy reading or playing games. The reason for having a hobby can be different for each person. Some want to learn a hobby for simple joy and some for personal growth. Every person has their own purpose.
For me, a hobby is about joy and rest and most of all, it is also a way to understand who I am. These days, my hobby is pencil drawing. At first, I wanted to do well. I focused too much on the result, and when I didn’t like what I drew, I began to lose my confidence, and I didn’t feel much joy. Finally, I became stressed. It felt like drawing was another job. I didn’t even want to look at a pencil. That’s when I realized something was wrong.
I’m quiet and introverted, but I care deeply about people. I love observing others. The world is full of many different people, and I often think humans are mysterious and beautiful. Watching people became my drawing inspiration. I stopped thinking about drawing well. I started to focus on what I feel and see. That process gives me peace and comfort that is hard to explain. Now, drawing is a big part of my life. It is time for me to step away from my many roles-as a mom, a wife, a daughter, and a worker-and just meet myself in silence.
So, to me, a hobby is a time to be fully myself and to focus on who I am, away from my busy daily life. During that time, I find new energy. Now, I want to ask you the same questions I asked myself: What is the purpose of your hobby? Does it make your life more meaningful and richer? And are you truly enjoying it?
