Employment

Portrait of an engineer checking products at an industrial container yard

My work experience has strengthened my respect for Canada and the Canadian people.

When I was looking for a job, I didn't speak English well. However, they accepted me and said they would help me learn faster by practicing speaking with them. Indeed, my colleagues and manager were always by my side as I became stronger in English.

Now I know the names of all the products in the store, I know how to present the right product to a customer, and I can better explain how to use it. I have gained the trust of my manager and friends, and now I feel completely comfortable, unlike my first days at work.

There are also government programs that support people who do not speak English to find work by paying their wages to the employing company for three months. Of course, this is a very appreciated position because I have many friends in different countries who do not have such programs in the countries in which they reside.

What is also special about working in Canada is that no one can exploit you in any way, as is the case in some other countries. Here, the labour board is ready to support any worker and is prepared to give him the necessary information to know his legal rights, which protects the worker from exploitation.
