I moved to Canada with my family one year ago. At first, I tried to find work in my career as an architect and a builder, but I faced a big obstacle. I realized that proficiency in English is crucial to find work, even though we live in a bilingual province.
Fortunately, I found a job as an early childhood educator for a francophone daycare. It was a wonderful experience, but I am still motivated to be a construction worker. I surpass my challenge with English by enrolling in an online course to study it and I studied English while working at the daycare.
After few months I discovered a course in my field of study at an English-language university. Even though studies were entirely in English I signed up anyway to get a Canadian diploma, which I thought will improve my chances of getting work in my field of study. I had to pass an English test before I could be accepted, and finally passed on my third try, which was a really important achievement for me!
Now I have started my program from September 2st. I am completely emerged in the English language environment. Every moment is an opportunity to improve my English proficiency for me, but the best part is coming. Now my major challenge now is to perform well in my studies.
I have not yet reached my goal of working in construction and architecture, but I am already on the way. I made a big step, and I will keep on trying. I am certain that if we try, then we finally succeed.
