My name is Paloma, I am 32 year old. I am from Brazil. My city is Suzano in São Paulo. I live in Canada with my husband Odilon. We moved here two and half years ago.

My family lives in Brazil and is very special. My mom’s name is Maria and my heart mom’s name is Nete. I have one my sister who’s name is Iara. She has 2 sons. My nephew’s name is Yuri and my niece’s name is Raissa.

I grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of nature. I played with friends, which was fun. I studied near my home but I took the bus. When I was 15 years old I started working at a company. I changed schools and studied at night. This helped me grow and I learned more responsibility.

I met my husband in this job in a factory. We became friends when I was 17 and we started dating. We have been together for 16 years and married for 4 years. My husband studied Radio And TV in Brazil and I studied a Bachelor’s of Art. In Brazil I did paper machê workshops and I worked as an art teacher at an NGO.

When I came to Canada I didn’t speak English I was scared. But in my first week here I got a job at a second hand store called Guys Frenchys. I learned a lot there. Now I work in a daycare. I am a support worker for two childrens with autism. I love my job I feel happy to work in a school again.

My goals for the next two years are to learn more English and start studying Early Childhood Education (ECE). In five years I want to speak English very well, do workshops with the paper machê and an art exhibition again and become a mother. I want to keep learning more about this country that welcomed me and now makes me feel at home.
