As the technologies are improving, things are getting easier and more efficient.

Being a distance learner, it saves me a lot of time on traffic. I can spend more time with my child; meanwhile, the study time is more casual and easy to handle. I don't have to worry whether my child misses me not being around. He can just sit there watching TV or playing by himself and I sit beside him doing my homework. Anything I need to deal with, I can just do it right away. I can still continue my e-learning and not being away from home. 

Distance education requires a lot of self-discipline. It only helps when you can control yourself, as there is no routine and structure, like in a traditional classroom. But as long as you have a good learning habit and motivation and staying focused, you will achieve a lot. 

Like everything else, distance education also has its disadvantages. You might feel that you study alone, for there are no classmates around you to discuss problems together. It's also hard to make a friend with a classmate, as it looks like you have no classmates at all. There are many people learning at e-learning platforms, however, everyone is independent. There is no interaction with them. The only person you might know is the instructor or teacher. And the opportunities to talk to your peers are beyond a possibility at many times. 

I personally enjoy the one-on-one 30 minutes talk over the phone with my teacher, who gives me a lot of motivation. And it forces me to finish my homework and get on the track each time we talk. I am not sure if there are any difficulties for her to deliver a distance education course, but I know there are online learning platforms that can provide a virtual classroom online and have all classmates gathered all together. And each one can have the chance to talk.

However, I still think that distance education is going to go far in the future. Despite all those disadvantages, no one can ignore that the time not spent on the commute is the biggest advantage for e-learners. Furthermore, you can go to all kinds of universities or colleges on all kinds of courses just at your fingertips. So, I believe that is the way we are going to study and learn soon.
