Another reason why it helps employers is because they can call the previous jobs to verify what kind of worker the person, applying for the job, was. For example, if the previous employer tells you that the worker was always on time, and was always working hard, then the employer will know that that worker is the best for hiring. Without resumes, employers won't be able to tell what kind of worker they are about to hire, or they can't call references, as they do not have any contacts for them.
