Employment

Employment application form and pen on desk, looking for a job concept

When I came to Canada, I tried to apply for a job, so people at the Employment Center told me that I had to write a resume in order to be able to apply for a job, and that's how I knew about it for the first time.

To be honest, I didn't like the concept of writing a resume, and I still don't like it. I think it is an unjust tool for choosing an employee, and I noticed that most of people lie when they write their resumes because they are afraid of not having an interview, which means that tool is not completely appropriate.

It is not fair that an employer can decide on your qualifications according to his own understanding what you wrote in your resume, and this really happens all the time, and it mostly happens to people who are not born Canadians, and they are not familiar with the criteria of Canadian resume. When using this tool, employers will ensure that all applicants will follow the same pattern, so they will have an equal chance.

Also currently sometimes a few hundred people are applying for one position and it is a huge workload for Human Resources Department. It will be easier for staff to filter key information of all the applicants as everything is just in place.

Therefore, it is much more fair and efficient to use an application form instead of a resume when applying for a job. More immigrants will be able to benefit from the competitive job market.
