Chana Dal Dhokla served with mint chutney, selective focus

Dhokla (Gram flour cake) is dish from my country. This is a breakfast dish.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • Gram flour 1 cup
  • Water 1 cup
  • Green chili 2 or 3
  • Semolina 1 ½ tablespoons
  • Baking soda 1 tablespoons
  • Ginger paste ½ tablespoons
  • Garlic paste ½ tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2-3 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds ½ tablespoons
  • Curry leaves 10 pieces
  • Sugar ½ tablespoons

Method

Mix well gram flour, green chili, semolina, ginger, garlic paste, salt and water in a big bowl. Add baking soda in the mixture. Put the mixture in a 6” aluminium dish. Take a big pot and put 2 cups of water in it. Then, put the dish inside the pot and cover with lid. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes.

Take dhokla out of the pot and cut it. Now in frying pan, heat some oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves for 2 minutes pour it on the dhokla. It is ready to eat.
