my story written with fountain pen

My name is Salma. I am 44 years of age. I am from Pakistan and was born in a small village in the north of Pakistan. We are four sisters and three brothers. I studied in my village and remained a house girl. I had to take care of the house, which included taking care of cleaning the house, cooking, and taking care of my elderly parents.

When I got married to my husband (Basheer) I moved to a big city called Lahore which is on the border of a city in India. My husband was living in Canada. Sarah my eldest daughter was born in Lahore, Pakistan as well as my middle daughter Safah. My house in Lahore had three bedrooms and it was a detached house. I enjoyed my house. I had one full-time personal driver, one full-time maid and one part-time maid for cleaning purposes. In the year 2015 I and my husband decided that we should move to Canada. As Sarah was going to be 5 years old and she needed to start her schooling. Secondly, all my husband’s family was living in Canada. My husband’s mother, brother, sister are already living in Canada.

I moved to Canada in 2015 and now live in Mississauga with my three daughters. I live in a three bedroom condominium. I am a stay at home mother and take care of my daughters on my own. My youngest daughter (Sanah) is two years old. I wake up early in the morning and make breakfast for my two daughters Sarah (8 years) and Safah (5 years). I get them ready for school and go to the lobby of the condominium where the school bus comes to pick them up. After the kids get on the school bus I prepare lunch for the kids and do household work.

Right now, I want to merge into Canadian society. I want to read, write and speak English. I want to be a Personal Support Worker once I learn English.
