Canada

View of walking bridge over water and trees at Point Pelee

I want to tell you about a lovely city I visited a few months ago.  It is called Leamington and it is where you can find the Point Pelee National Park. It is close to Windsor, the city where I live in.  It is just a one-hour car ride, easy to access and nearby. The weather that day was warm and sunny. My husband and I had a few days open so we decided to invite a few close friends to come with us. I didn't take a lot of things with me because the park’s website said it had amenities over there.

There are so many things to do at Point Pelee. My husband and I paddled a canoe in the marsh. I admired a variety of wonderful plants, tall trees and a variety of insects and unique butterflies. I also saw visitors from different countries with peculiar habits. After we walked the trails, we had a picnic at the White Pine. We ate barbeque and I tasted new food specialties brought by our friends. We also played games by the beach and walked along the March Boardwalk. The park also offers a shuttle ride to the “Tip,” which the guide said was the southernmost part of Canada’s mainland. Unfortunately, we missed the last trip of the day.  I was sad, but my husband promised that we will go back in the near future and take that ride. Instead, we did bird watching for an hour. I listened to so many kinds of birds that sang marvelous and touching songs. The park is a haven for birdwatchers here in Canada, from the U.S. and from around the world. By the end of the day, we all gazed at the gorgeous sunset. Everything was like a scene from a movie. I liked it very much because it was quiet, natural and so picturesque.

I am very happy to share this hidden gem that I discovered and explored – Point Pelee   National Park. I saw the beauty of the surroundings and the people that God created. Above all, it was a splendid place because it was a change of scenery for me. If ever you are in the southern part of Ontario, make time to stop by Leamington to meet the residents of this wonderful city and visit this amazing national park.
