I often go to Storyline Online website with my sons to enjoy children’s picture books that famous people read. It is an excellent listening practice for me and I also spend some good time with my sons in this way. I recommend this website to all ESL students, especially to those who can listen to the stories with their children.

Last week we watched the story “The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake”.  It is about Miss Rabbit who hires two mice police officers, Detective Wilcox and Captain Griswold, to find out what happened with her carrot cake which she had baked and left on the table. The police began to investigate the suspects, but they could not find anything. They decided to put a video camera on the tree where the owl lives, and from where he always watches Miss Rabbit eat cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sitting under a tree, they waited a long time. And when they watched the video recording in the morning, they were very surprised, as it turned out that the Miss Rabbit ate the cake herself. She was sleepwalking during night. Miss Rabbit felt very ashamed and then baked a new carrot cake for everybody.

It was interesting to watch this funny story with my sons.  After the story my sons asked me to make a carrot cake for them one day.
