The rise in numbers of migrant workers who move from different countries to rich nations is quite remarkable. Dating back to our ancestors, migrating from one area or country to settle in another, especially in search for a better life and environment, has been a natural practice.  Highly skilled workers such as engineers, accountants and doctors are in demand in rich countries. perks of being well paid, more benefits and career advancement are just a few examples of what rich nations can offer. Many qualified professionals from poor nations are moving to developed countries in order to attain economic stability and a peaceful way of living rather than to stay in their homeland and provide their professional service. Some people argued that by encouraging the movement of such talented individuals, rich nations are stealing from poor countries.  On the other hand, some people think that this is just a part of a natural movement of skilled workers around the globe, which is, seeking a greener pasture.

There are many reasons why there is the migration of qualified people from poor nations to rich nations. Firstly, developed countries fall short of skilled workers, therefore, attracting other individuals from other nations like those from the third world countries is inevitable. In order to supply the scarcity of manpower, rich companies from rich countries are sourcing skilled employees outside their country. Therefore, they can easily attract the capable individuals from developing countries by offering them highly competitive jobs with high salaries. Secondly, rich countries have programs which can also offer these individuals to become permanent residents in order to keep them (thus, making them more secure and able to enjoy the same benefits that natural born citizens enjoyed). Lastly, a human by nature is always wanting for a better experience. People want to secure their life until their retirement age and to the extent of the security of their future generations.  They are more than willing to give up what they have reached in life for a better one.

On the contrary, migrating to another country is a tough undertaking and a decision to be taken by an individual alone. No single entity or person, or rich countries, can force anyone to move unless otherwise decided by the person alone.  In the search for a better life and opportunity, skilled workers choose to move to other better countries that can provide them with financial stability and economic freedom. For instance, it is a fact also, that there are professionals from poor countries such as doctors who work as medical assistants, nurses who work as caregivers, engineers who work as labourers and teachers as nannies or cleaners in exchange for a better pay. These are undeniable facts. The main reason is that they are not  paid well for their skills, but rather choose to work  outside their professions in rich countries, in exchange for a better salary.

Moreover, developed countries offer partnership to poor countries where immigrants come from. In return, the governments of rich countries provide assistance to third world countries in the form of investments and other economic assistance such as export and import of goods and services. In addition to that, remittances of migrant workers actually aid in the growth of the economy of a poor country. It plays a vital role in alleviating the economic status of the country.

To sum it up, migrating is a natural process. Rich countries are like greener pasture that humans can cultivate. Qualified people from a poor country are moving to a wealthy country because it is their personal choice. It is just that an opportunity for a better life knocked on their door.
