Seasonal

bright lights on building in Moscow during NYE

Today I‘d like to tell you about people in Moscow, Russia, and how they like to spend their weekends and holidays during winter time.

About 7 years ago in Moscow, the old government was replaced by a new one. A mayor has been re-elected twice since then. He made many improvement in the Russian capital. Also, he and the Government has upgraded and improved winter sport and many other winter cultural attractions.

There are more than 10 big green parks in Moscow which in total is bigger the 2000 acres. In our days, any of these parks have ice-rinks, as well as skating in a circle or you can skate on a walking path.

There are even more things you can do in winter in the parks in Moscow. For example, every winter in one of the parks there is a beautiful ice sculpture exhibition. There is even an ice-maze you can try. And many other activities, such as snow tubing, sleigh ride, building snow-man and more.

You will never feel cold in a place like Moscow. Even outside of crowded places, you’ll always find hot drinks, for instance a hot tea and coffee, hot and spicy wine and hot chocolate with marshmallows for your kids.

In Russia we do not celebrate Christmas as Canadians do, but we love to celebrate New Year's night. Every town and small village puts  bright electrical lights on the central streets and place a big pine tree on The Very Central Square. And the most beautiful city in the world is Moscow, of course. Parks and squares are decorated with garlands and lights, shop windows look alive with fairytales pictures. During this time of the year is the opening of fairs and markets, where every single visitor could possibly find a little miracle from each part of our big world.
This is my favourite time of the year in Moscow.
