Hand holding pen -

My name is Elina, I’m 44 years old and I’m from Bulgaria. I have been living in Canada for the last two and a half years. When I was 23 years old I moved, by myself, to work and live in Greece. Those were the best years of my life because I fell in love with Greece. Since I have been living in Canada, I visit Greece every summer because I miss it very much. I also have many friends there and I miss them too. I did not speak Greek at all when I first went to Greece and I struggled with the language, but I quickly learned basic sentences. After three months, I found my first job at the pool of a big hotel as a waitress and my life began to go smoothly. A few months later I started attending courses to learn how to be an aesthetician. After passing my exams I was hired by a French cosmetics company. In 2014 I also met my husband in Greece. We got married within three months. He is from Greece but he had been living in Canada for many years. After our marriage, I moved back to Bulgaria in my parents’ house and I waited for my visa for Canada. It took more than a year and a half. When I finally got it, my husband came to Bulgaria and we travelled together to Canada. It was the longest trip of my life. When we landed in Vancouver I was fascinated and happy with the city. We did not have time to walk or shop, because we had to take the ferry to Vancouver Island. Now that I have been living here for two and half years in Port Alberni I feel good. I go to school to learn English and I started working a year ago. I’m getting used to the Canadian lifestyle. My future's goals are to first speak better English and after that go to college, maybe in September to improve (perfect) my English.
