The playground near our house has chips of wood as a playground surface.   I think it is not safer than sand as a playground surface for children.  Although it is cleaner than playing with the sand, the bits of wood is not as soft as sand, even worse, it is pointed. It is much easier to have injury to the eyes.

Around our house and in the backyard, grass is the outdoor surface. As we know grass is not good protective surface beneath play equipment, because grass is not soft enough. It is more likely to have a head injury when falling on grass compared to sand.

The most important thing is parents should keep an eye on their children when they are playing outdoors.  Do not focus only on talking on the phone or talk to others for a long time and not pay attention to your children.
