“Canada is the homeland of equality, justice, and tolerance” -Kim Campbell

When we moved to Canada, the excitement never left me from the first day on. The nature in Canada is beautiful like art, and the people here are friendly, cheerful and helpful and they never stop smiling at you. We met people from other countries, people in the same situation, people with their unique and captivating stories. Like us, they came to Canada to build their new life. They came here to give a better future to their children. At some point, some of these people became very our close friends. It happened unexpectedly. Since we were adults, we didn’t feel it was possible for us to make new friends.

I really liked the neighbourhood where we lived for two years.  It was a truly great neighbourhood for us. One day, we moved to another region far away from the old neighbourhood. The new neighbourhood was pretty and new, child-friendly, with nice families and young children. I felt happy and sad at the same time. I realized that I miss our old neighbourhood in Canada. In the old neighbourhood, our next-door neighbours became our good friends, our kids played together allthe time, we spent all holidays and school breaks like a big family.

After almost three years, I went back to the country where we came from for a short visit. It was exciting to see again my family and friends. It was nice to be in summer in the middle of the winter. But when I was on the plane back to Canada I was even more enthusiastic. I felt that I was coming home!

Canada is a special and spectacular country. It has four incredible and inspiring seasons and it’s never boring with a snowy and cozy winter, a relaxing, renewing and blooming spring, joyful and sun-kissed summer and, of course, colorful and pumpkin-flavoured fall. There are people from different cultures that can keep their traditions and respect for each other. People care for each other here. Being a part of the community is so important in Canada. So yes, I miss my loved ones back home. And yes, at the same time, I know that Canada has become our new home!

Thank you, Canada, for your kindness! Thank you for your big heart!
