Emily Carr on a horse

Emily Carr, a famous artist and a writer born in British Columbia, was a person who had many creative ideas although she had difficulties gaining immediate recognition.

Since her early childhood, Emily was a very lonely person .She did not want to be around people and she was rude to those whom she did not like. Although she faced many challenges and obstacles in life, she never give up. She was always trying to be recognized as a great artist because she knew a lot about art and the use of authentic and natural colours, but it’s unfortunate to say that often people appreciate a person's worth and quality after they pass away.

I think Emily was inspired by nature and she personified it in all her painting. Her messages are clearly expressed through art for all those who have open and creative minds. Many people believe that her paintings are gloomy, dark and depressing, but I think she was a talented artist who was ahead of her time.

I leave this message to the future generations. I feel proud that I have lived in the same century as this great artist and have gotten to know her paintings and connections to the Group of Seven. I believe that Emily Carr really deserves her place in art history.
