Health

Hand squeezing a stress ball

Stress is a healthy way of responding to situational pressures or threats. It's a good mechanism to protect our bodies, but only if it's in small doses. I mean in a way that makes you live your life normally and doesn't affect your performance. Stress in high doses is very bad to our health according to Dr. Bruce Lipton. Firstly, the stress affects the cell growth in our bodies. Secondly, it affects our immune system, and that means exposing our bodies to infections and diseases. Thirdly, stress makes us less intelligent, and that's through inability to concentrate. So, we have to deal with the stress in the right ways.

There are many ways to cope with the stress. One of them is to talk to a therapist who is specialized in this field, because if we ignore it, we will harm ourselves. The second way, which has very effective results, is engaging in some activities like walking, jogging, and dancing. These activities lower the stress level. The third thing is doing some hobbies like drawing, and reading books, which make you feel like you are in your own world and nothing will bother you. Some people believe in relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which lower your stress levels, elevate your mood, and increase your ability to focus. Also, engaging in friendships or relationships have a good effect, because you feel you're not alone and you don't have time to think alone. In my opinion, once you can identify the source of stress in your life, try to take it out or accept it. These are the best ways to cope with the stress.

On the other hand, I think taking a rest time and having caffeine drinks have an effect on our mood, but over-consumption of caffeine and alcohol doesn’t help us and may make us more stressed. Having a green tea instead could help us, because it contains less caffeine, healthy antioxidants, and amino acids that calm our nervous system. Also eating healthy food is the best way for our bodies at any time especially when we are stressed. Some people stay out of crowded places, and avoid heavily lit rooms, which has an effect, but sweeping our problems under the rug is not a healthy way to deal with stress. In addition, we have to stay away from procrastination, which leads to escalating the stress. Also laughing is a simple way to trick your nervous system into making you feel happy and less stressed. So please laugh!!
