Motherhood

All holidays are joyful and pleasurable. Springtime makes us happy with its Mother’s Day. On the eve of this day all stores are filled with different fresh flowers. Hurrying buyers choose flowers for their moms and wives. Then they give the flowers to their women and get together to celebrate this day.

In my home country this holiday is celebrated on the last Sunday of November. However, the holiday which celebrates mothers is on March 8, which is International Women’s Day. This is the official day on which all organizations and schools are closed for the day. I remember how it was.

When I was a schoolgirl, every year we used to prepare for the concert for our moms. We sang songs, read poems and performed short plays. Then the boys presented cards with wishes and small gifts for all girls. Also, everybody made small gifts from paper for their moms and grandmothers.

In the morning, in my family, we congratulated our mom, grandmother under the lead of my father. We gave flowers and gifts. We, little girls, my sister and I were congratulated by our father too as women on this day. The kind and warm atmosphere prevailed in our home. Now, I guard this tradition in my family. My husband and my sons’ families respect this tradition too.
