Motherhood

We did not celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday 12 because we are used to celebrating it on a different day. Probably in time, when my children grow up here in Canada, they will congratulate me on this day, and we will celebrate it with cake and flowers. 

In my country of origin, we don't have Mother's Day, but we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8 every year. On this day all mothers receive flowers from their children and husbands. It is a national holiday and, on this day, women normally do not go to work and not even do any of their chores at home; they just receive gifts and congratulations from everyone.  On this special day for women, children sign beautiful cards, do beautiful handcrafts for their lovely mothers. In addition, women normally celebrate this special day in restaurants with their families or with other mothers. They usually sit together, eat special dishes, laugh, and tell stories about their lives. So, it's a very nice day when they can take time from their busy schedules to take a break from the daily routine.

I recommend celebrating Mother's Day and Women’s Day because they make women feel special. It's very nice to receive congratulations, flowers and gifts from loved ones. It is also wonderful when husbands and children show they care about their wives and mothers. I think we deserve to take time on these special holidays and feel appreciated.
