Settlement

Canada and Nepal flag waving in the wind against white cloudy blue sky together. Diplomacy concept,

As soon as I finished my high school I started my first new job as a customer service in a department store. After I worked there almost one year I made up my mind to immigrant another country. The working environment, salary and the working system everything I don’t liked there. I just wanted to move as soon as possible. So I started my research about different countries and their standard of living. After few months there were three countries on my list that was Japan, Holland and Canada. As Japan was my first choice so I started a process to apply as a student visa and taking Japanese language course too. Due to lack of enough financial support I was rejected. After that rejection I knew that if I applied to Holland and Canada as a student visa I will get rejected too due to same reason. So, I decided to apply a working visa but applying as a worker to North America and European countries are very difficult. Either you have a highly educated or financially strong to move these countries. It was almost impossible for me to immigrant Holland or Canada in a working visa but fortunately through some of my friend’s networking, I came to know how  to immigrant Canada through Israel. That time if we had a disable or elder caregiver experience then we can easily apply to Israel as a caregiver and same process to Canada from Israel too. Luckily, I did lots of Volunteer work as a caregiver to a foster, nursing homes, rehab centers and old care homes. With all these experiences I went to Israel and worked there three years, got Israelis experience as a nanny and elderly caregiver. In 2009 I applied as a nanny for a doctor family with 3 little children. With three interviews and few months of immigration process I got three years of contract job as a nanny in Niagara Falls, Canada.

On 8th January 2010, I landed at Pearson Airport with lots of excitement, hopes and dreams. This was the country where I desperately wanted to settle down and started my life. With almost eight years of long process I was finally at my dream country Canada. I was so happy and mentally prepared that it was just the beginning.

There were still long to go, still need to struggled and endured lots of ups and down. At the airport a mother of three children came to received me. She welcomed me with a beautiful bouquet and a very big warmly smiles. With a very good family and three beautiful children I spend with them almost three and half year, more than my contract. Between these years lots of changes happened into my life, In 2012 I applied for Permanent Residence in Canada and went back to my home country for a one month vacation and got married with my boyfriend (we were in a relationship since 9 years).

On 2013 I got my PR card, I was so happy and very thankful for my parents who always supported me and my decision and my first Canadian family with whom I spend three and half year ( as per my working contract). After I got my PR card I moved to Toronto and live by myself. I wanted to explore big city and get experiences. I did lots of surviving job with minimum wages. I worked 7 days almost 80 hrs in a week because I was alone that time and wanted to save some money.  On November 2014 my husband came to Canada and we got a small 2 bedrooms apartment in Toronto. Within these few years we had gifted with two beautiful daughters.

Immigrate and settle down in Canada was my own decision; it was a long process and still going on. I did lot of sacrifices and endure many things but never shattered. Canada gave me lots of happiness and hopes. Today I am proud to call Canada my home.
