Travel (Outside of Canada)

View point of Hongkong city and Kowloon city from the top of victoria peak, Hong kong island, China

September 7, 2011 was a very memorable day for me yet, a stressful one because it was my first Asian Tour for 14 days to Hong Kong.  Prior to taking the scheduled flight, I did a lot of research of the beautiful tourist destinations and safe hotel accommodations to make sure everything was going to be hassle free.

In addition to asking advice from a friend who had visited Hong Kong on the best tourist attractions to visit like, Disneyland, The 10,000 Buddhas, Victoria Peak, Noah's Ark,  and the side trip to Macau to see The Venetian Macao, The City of Dreams, Ruins of St. Paul, to name a few.

I could not contain my excitement; however, a few minutes before my scheduled flight, I was redirected to see an immigration officer for an interview since it was my first time out of the country.

My heart was beating so fast and my hands were sweating as well, signs of being nervous but I kept myself calm outwardly to the best of my ability.

The immigration officer was a lady and she asked me a lot of questions on the purpose of my tour, my whereabouts, where I was going to stay, my financial status and double checked my travel documents.

In spite of all my supporting documents presented to her, the immigration officer handed me a piece of blank white paper and instructed me to write an affidavit stating my circumstances and purpose of travel with intent to return to my home country. Only then, I was allowed to board the plane bound for Hong Kong.

What a sigh of relief after all!   In essence, I had a well spent magical 14 days in Hong Kong and Macau mesmerized by the wonderful tourist spots and the best authentic, delicious Chinese food ever!
