Travel (Outside of Canada)

USA border welcome sign

Traveling is an experience that in most of the cases is unforgettable. What would you do in a sunny and shiny day? It could be visiting a promised place. My story starts when during a weekend I was at home getting bored by nothing to do. My wife and my children were getting bored too. An idea came to my mind. Few months before we got the permanent resident and passports from the government. It was a big achievement for us because it means that we could travel out side least to back home. We had the US visas, so I said to my wife why we do not visit the States? It was like a crazy idea, but my wife agreed with me and finally we departed.

The weather was amazing the landscapes gave us the best of the nature can offer. We took pictures. We were excited, but at the same time we were nervous about it. When we were crossing the bridge at the US and Canada border, my wife got in shock because she thought what if we could not do this and what if Canada border officers do not let us in when we come back. We were in States border waiting for the officers to let us in. After some time, they welcomed us, and we proceeded with our Journey. My wife forgot about the incident and we continued enjoying the voyage. The next thing we promised to do when we had the opportunity was to have a dinner in a restaurant that we visited before we asked for the refugee status in Canada. We got there and started to talk about our experiences. We remembered when we talked about how it would be our life in Canada. Also, we remembered that the meat there was delicious and the bread too.

Our gratitude for God was huge because we could notice the change of our lives before and after. We asked the waitress to take a picture of us to record the immemorable moments. It was about two years when we last visited there. We could not forget that when we were there for the first time, we were hopeless and aimless. We paid the bill and the next thing was to go and visit the mall. We walked around and had a delicious ice cream. In the evening, we started to fix the GPS to head out to Canada. One of the obstacles we had was the roads in the States are confusing not well organized like here. We got lost and I was mad with my wife because I was driving, and she told me which roads to take several times. It was not her fault. I got mad on her because we got the wrong way twice. Then I realized that it was once miss an exit means e drive half an hour extra which is frustrating.

Finally, we got to the border and the agent started to ask some questions. We were expecting something worst, but the Canadian agents are so kind and helpful. They welcomed us and we continued with our destiny to home. We cheer each other and thanked God for the folly we did without asking first to have peace instead of fear. When we got home, we still love the place where we live.

Canada is a perfect place for immigrants because it offers security, respect for people without blaming. I mean, Canada do not treat people according to his race, beliefs or background because to Canada people and their problems matters the most. It is because I noticed United States officers are a little bid rude and disrespectful. In contrast Canadian officers make people feel right at home and welcome residents.
