Rocky lake shore of Georgian Bay in Killbear provincial park near Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.

Last weekend, my family and a few other families we know went camping at Killbear Provincial Park. We booked our reservation there five months ago. Killbear is a great park with a variety of campgrounds. Most campsites are less than a five minute walk from the Georgian Bay shoreline and are large enough to fit more than one sleeping tent, one eating tent, and a few vehicles. Unfortunately, sites are a little close together, so there is slightly less privacy. The campgrounds are radio-free and this quiet is definitely a great idea for young families like ours.

The Georgian Bay shoreline was incredible, though the weather wasn’t on our side. It rained all Friday night until Saturday around noon so we could not explore much of the surroundings. Saturday afternoon we went fishing for a few hours. We caught a few fish which made children happy and excited.

As for any bears roaming the park, we never encountered one. We did see a family of raccoons and many chipmunks. Nevertheless, we kept our site bear-proof and clean to avoid any surprises. Our group enjoyed Killbear Provincial Park very much.
