The movie Lion of the Desert is very famous, and it is about the war between Italy and Libya. It tells the story of the struggle of the Libyans for freedom and independence. The war continued for 40 years.

Omar Mukhtar was a brave heroic person. He fought the Italians when he was the age of 53. He participated for more than twenty years in a large number of battles, until he was arrested by the Italians soldiers. He underwent a mock trial that ended with a death sentence by hanging. He was an important person from Libya because he was a symbol of the struggle against Italy. I describe Omar Mukhtar as a courageous man. He could tell the world the meaning of courage and defense of the homeland despite his old age. He had a famous expression, “We will not surrender; we win, or we die”.

When I watched that movie, I felt proud because there are men and women who are defending our land, and at the same time I felt sad for the people who sacrificed for us.
